Samsung MBP200 Pico Projector Accessory - CES 2009

The Samsung MBP200 Pico Projector was one of the many gadgets shown at CES 2009. It’s a personal media player, and a projector that is perfect for business meetings, or when you are traveling, and want to watch movies as you go (the movie just needs an omnia). It should be coming to market in 2009 (no info as to the pricepoint). It also connects to a laptop, and mobile phones. It has a sliding panel for the projector.  According to sources, it should support up to 16G SD card (with 256 MEG internal memory). Looks really promising, and should be alot of fun to use.

Windows 7 - Will it live up to the hype

The Windows 7 beta version was displayed for all to see at this past CES 2009. I’m not sure if it will live up to the hype, but so far the faster response time when you open your laptop looks promising. I know that with Windows Vista, Microsoft was focusing primarily on the bells and whistles that would come with it. Unfortunately for consumers, those bells and whistles came at a high price in the form of memory usage. This meant that as you added more programs (which is why you buy a computer in the first place), the worse things got with the performance of Windows Vista.  This time around, it seems that developers for Windows 7 have designed its function based around how people actually use their computers. I know I like having several windows open at one time. Windows 7 seems to be able to handle that pretty well.  Also, being able to move between them on the task bar would be really great as well.  Also, if you hover in the lower right, it lets you clear the cluter on your desktop, and makes it easier to see through different documents. They’ve also added several other features which are interesting, and would prove very useful, IF (and I do mean if) , Windows 7 actually lives up to what it says it will do.  Sadly, only time will tell (and if they mess this up again, I don’t think I’m willing to give Microsoft another chance to redeem themselves).

CES 2009 - So far so good

This year has been kind of interesting. The past years of CES have been all glitz and glam, but then they decided to make it more exclusive, and invitation only. THIS year, due to the economy there was much more focus on the products, and they decided to make it open invitation which was very nice. There have been many products introduced thus far. Seems like everything is leaning towards gaming which is definitely going to make a difference on what type of products will be developed throughout this upcoming year.

CES is really heating up!

So far, things are looking really good. Microsoft is making a strong showing with some upcoming technologies that it is working on. Including a program that will allow you to take notes, and be able to communicate with others at the same time. Plus the new technology will allow you to share drawings, and graphics around the classroom. Perfect when you need some help with a math problem, or how to work out an equation, but don’t wish to stop the teacher during their presentation.

CES 2009 - Focusing on Bigger,Smaller, and Eco Friendly

Just checked out this video from BBCWorld News. Looks like the CES in Las Vegas is pretty much set to kick off the new year. For the most part the technology will be bigger in some respects (ex: flat screen monitors, and TVs), and smaller in some ways (ex: laptop computers - I am actually looking forward to the smaller laptop. I usually have to blog on the go, and having a simple interface that is still powerful would be VERY helpful). And, of couse, much of this technology is working to be eco-friendly. There might even be a way to get energy over the air (Tesla introduced this idea a rather long time ago, but JP Morgan made sure the media had him seen as a madman “If I can’t put a meter on it, it’s of no use to me.”)

I’m really looking forward to seeing what’s coming up this year. Because of the recession there will be more emphasis on the tech, and less on the fanfare (although that’s what makes it interesting to see when you are there). Should be a good show despite the economic conditions presently.

Las Vegas welcomes CES 2009

LG Display - The First TruMotion 480 Hz

I got a chance to check out this display. It blows other displays and digital picture frames away! It was suppose to be shown at the upcoming CES 2009 (which I won’t be attending this year unfortunately). Either someone leaked the story, or the company wanted to get the word out about this amazing display before CES 2009 truly got kicked off. Whatever the reason, or however it happened, this cool video was created to show off it’s capabilities.

ShowStoppers Party - CES

The Consumer Electronic Show (CES) is always a great place to find out what cool games are coming out in the US, and what innovations in gadgetry will be made in the upcoming years. This year’s CES show did not disappoint, and something special happened this time around. A special party called the ShowStopper’s party was held during CES to showcase amazing technology, and gadgetry to a very select few. One of my favorites is the Powerdock by Griffin technologies. Most people now have more than one iPod, but limited chargers to charge them. Now, with the Powerdock, you can change 2 or 4 iPods at the same time. Definitely a time saver. Other cool technologies were showcased including a Skype branded Wireless headset that is neither WiFi nor Bluetooth. It utilizes a special chip made by Avnera to have it’s wirelesss capabilities.
